Margaret Peggie OBE

It is with great pleasure that EMDP are able to share with you some wonderful national recognition for a teacher from one of our founder organisations, Margaret Peggie was awarded an OBE for services to Fitness, Dance and Sport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2008.

Margaret Peggie’s friends and colleagues in The Fitness League, the Exercise, Movement & Dance Partnership, were delighted with the news that she has been awarded an OBE for services to Fitness, Dance and Sport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2008.

Margaret’s early career was as a physical education teacher and lecturer in Dance.  She is currently Vice President of the Fitness League for which she has worked as an exercise teacher, teacher trainer and part-time Manager for over 35 years.  She was heavily involved in setting up the Exercise, Movement & Dance Partnership of which she was the first Chair. She has had a long voluntary involvement with the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR) serving as Vice Chair of the Movement and Dance Division, as a Director, then Deputy Chair of the Board. She was made a Vice President in 2004 before taking up the role of the Chair of Sports Leaders UK. Margaret has also produced exercise, movement and dance shows at the Royal Albert Hall for the Fitness League and for the CCPR. She is a Governor of the Council of the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS) and was recently appointed to the Board of Bucks & Milton Keynes County Sports Partnership.

She says she loves the variety of her interests, which look separate but are all connected and enjoys working with some wonderful friends and colleagues in sport and recreation.  To be awarded an OBE is the icing on the cake!
