EMDP Board

EMDP's Board comprises of an Independent Chairperson, two representative from each of the three founder organisations (The Keep Fit Association, Medau Society and The Fitness League), and EMDP's Chief Executive. To find out a little more about each of the EMDP Board Members please have a look at the details below;

Innes Milne 'Independent Chairperson' - has a background in Human Resource Management, for the last ten years she has worked as a consultant helping organisations with change and management development.

John Hunter has been the EMDP’s Vice Chairman and Finance Director since the company’s formation in 2006.  Since 1999 John has also been on the Executive Committee of the Medau society and holds both roles as Honorary Treasure and Vice Chairman.  In 1963 John gained an MA in mathematics from Cambridge and in 1977 became a certified accountant.  John’s voluntary work began in Illinois, USA in various places and now boasts many voluntary roles in the UK at this present time.

Professor Bob Jones has served on the Council of the Fitness League since 2006.  His wife has been a teacher for the League for more than 35 years.  He is a former Chairman of the Welsh Hockey Association and has a keen interest in all sports.  Bob is a metallurgist by training and spent much of his career in Cardiff University but has also been Head of Research & Development at a steel company in Detroit, USA.

Daran Bennett has been involved in the sports and leisure industry for over 20 years, competing at national level in sport whilst building an initial career in the health club and wellness area of the industry. Daran soon moved from ‘the game’ to ‘the business’ and has worked with and operated businesses involved with Sports and Leisure for PLC, Private commercial ventures to Charity and Volunteer Organisations.

Lynne Davis is an active and dedicated member of the National Keep Fit Association, she serves on the national Nottinghamshire and East Midland’s executive committee and regularly teaches dance and fitness classes.  Lynne also finds the time to work her high powered job as Head of Corporate services in a Government Office for the East Midlands.

Mo Watson became a member of the KFA in 1968, became a teacher in 1984 and a Trainer in 2003 and Mo teachs several classes a week for older adults and chair based older adults. She has worked on local and regional KFA committees for more than 30 years as well as being on the board of Directors of the KFA. I am currently the KFA Equity Officer.  

Sarah Price joined the Fitness League in 1993 after the birth of her son. She gained her Bagot Stack teacher qualification in 1997 and has also been a teacher trainer for the organisation for 6 years. She teaches 7 classes/week in Sussex and represents the Fitness League on the EMDP training strategy group. Sarah is also a specialist chemotherapy nurse and practices a Japanese martial art called Iaido.

Julie Gilbert is a qualified practising Medau teacher, Julie served as Minutes Secretary on the Medau Society’s Executive Committee before becoming Society Chairman in October 2009.  With a BA degree in French Julie first taught in schools before a decision to change career saw her taking qualifications in secretarial and financial administration.  This led to employment at the University of Surrey in Guildford where she worked in office and financial administration, specialising in research projects, before retiring in 2008.
